How do I calculate stacked discounts?

Stacked discounts (like '20% off plus an extra 10% off') are not added together (30% off). Instead, the discounts are applied sequentially. Calculate the first discount on the original price, then apply the second discount to the new, lower price. For example: $100 with 20% off becomes $80. Then applying the extra 10% off on $80 gives $80 – ($80 × 0.10) = $72. Our discount calculator is designed for single discounts, but you can run the tool twice: first for the initial discount, then use the resulting price as the new original for the second discount. This prevents the common mistake of adding percentages, which overstates your savings.
